Event Description:

Oak Park Step It Up: Put a Lid on It - Cut U.S. Emissions Now!

An upbeat, positive rally that cannot be ignored. Using the "Put a Lid on It" theme, create your own lids, wearable or carryable lids or hats with decorations that draw attention. We'll hold a competition before the end of the event and announce the winner, hopefully getting a public official to pick the winner and get some media attention. Bring noise makers, drums, rattles, kazoos to make a noise that tells passer-bys to "Listen to Us!" We are also looking into speakers for the event.

Suggested Signs: Put a Lid on It: Cut CO2 (or Emissions) by 80%; Stop Global Warming Now; Listen to Us: Cap Emissions Now.

Focus on the central message that we need to pass national legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, emphasizing the need to cut emissions by 80% by 2050, and to have an immediate impact on climate change and global warming.
