sTEP iT uP Catskills
Livingston Manor, NY
April 14, 2007 10:00AM to 11:30AM
Event Description:Would you be up for an easy, fun effort to get us all more excited about saving energy and reducing our "carbon diet"? Well, if you think you might, here's a starting point –
Join us on Saturday, April 14th at 10:00am for just an hour and we'll do a simple thing:
We'll carpool 1/2 mile, then walk 1/4 mile up to a great vantage point in Livingston Manor with a clear view of the Catskill High Peaks (the walk is on a continuously ascending dirt road. If walking is tough for you, please let us know and we'll arrange a ride.) At the summit, we'll take a photograph of our group with the tree-covered high peaks in the background, holding a banner that encourages Congress to cut carbon 80% by 2050. Since trees are terrific carbon eaters, the photo will highlight our Catskill Mountains covered in them. The forested landscape is also a big part of why many of us love living here.
Along the way, we'll talk about what we can do as individuals to reduce our carbon diet and many of us will leave motivated to start tackling specific actions. Then in early June, we’ll hold a Global Cafe to bring even more people together and stimulate action in a larger community. Many small steps will begin to amount to something!
So hey, let's get together Saturday. It's an easy way to learn more, get motivated, and have a lot of fun.
If it's pouring rain, the rain date will be Sunday, April 22nd at 1:00pm. Same carpool locations.

1/2 mile outside of Livingston Manor at a great vantage point with a clear view of the Catskill high peaks
