Event Description:

Join Atlantans from around the city for morning workshops and a noon rally on historic Morehouse College campus, near downtown Atlanta.

Workshops start at 10am in Kilgore Student Center just north of King Chapel.

Workshop issues include discussions on climate change and social justice; reducing energy use; local transit issues; an interfaith response to climate change. Additionally there will be a free film screening of Kilowatt Ours, a film about energy production, consumption and smart energy solutions in the Southeast. Free continental breakfast provided by Whole Foods.

From 11:00am till Noon at Kilgore Atrium there will be information booths, exhibits and oppotunities to get involved in global warming efforts with our partner organizations.

STEP IT UP ATLANTA! Rally and step show starts at Noon at on the steps of the King Chapel.

Rally speakers include Representative Brian Thomas, Na'Taki Osborne with the National Wildlife Federation, and Dr. Cynthia Hewitt with Morehouse College. Along with the speakers there will be a step team performance by the award-winning Graves Hall Morehouse College recently featured on BET.

After the rally, get on the bus and join with scores of other volunteers as we STEP IT UP at the Dogwood Festival, collecting signatures and handing out fact sheets on global warming.

Directions:

Take MARTA to STEP IT UP ATLANTA:

Follow the Step It Up footprints from the West End MARTA station 4 blocks north to Morehouse College campus.

By Car:

Take I-20 West to Exit 55B, Lee St/ATL UNIV CTR/Ft McPherson. Turn right off the exit onto Lee St SW, which after 1 block becomes Westview Dr SW which flows directly into Morehouse campus. The King Chapel will be on your left.
Parking is available in the parking deck for $2 or street parking is plentiful off campus.
