Step It Up Central Susquehanna Valley

Lewisburg, PA

April 14, 2007 12:00PM to 02:00PM

Hosted by Samantha Pearson

Event Description:

In the Central Susquehanna Valley, the Local Action Network (www.LocalActionPA.org), in cooperation with the Bucknell University Environmental Center and Susquehanna University, will hold an event in Lewisburg.

We will convene in Soldiers Memorial Park along the Susquehanna River, just north of Market St, at the appointed hour and hold a walk (a short one!) across the bridge and back with our Step It Up banners.

We will have available carbon footprint calculation opportunities and postcards to send to legislators. We will also have opportunities to sign up for the newest offering from the Northwest Earth Institute (www.nwei.org), “Global Warming: Changing CO2urse,” a four-week, self-facilitated small group discussion course, giving you more information on the issues and needed actions. The park is a great place for families with kids but is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. There is a place to get ice cream on the other side of the bridge...

Come call for change and reconnect to the river while you're at it!

Location:
Soldiers and Sailors Park, North Water St along the Susquehanna River, just north of Market St
Directions:
Rt 15 to Rt 45 (Market St), turn east into Lewisburg. Water St and the River are about 3/4 of a mile along. The park is to the north of Market St. On street parking throughout town. But poor pedestrian access to the park. Watch carefully for traffic. It may be easier to get to the park a block north of Market, at St John St.

In the Central Susquehanna Valley a crowd came out in support of Step It Up, rallying on the banks of the Susquehanna River (note the abandoned railroad bridge begging to become a bike trail in the background).

Hearing about where we stand on carbon and where we're trying to get to. Text will be available shortly on www.LocalActionPA.org.

We had lots of banners. This one was out by a busy intersection and got a lot of exposure.

Location Finalized, Finally

If you have watched this site to date, you will have witnessed a bit of uncertainty about the siting for our event. We are now confirmed, even reserved, for Soldiers and Sailors Park right along the Susquehanna River. It's an appropriate location, though sadly not wheelchair accessible. We hope to see all who can make it however.
