120 people showed up for our ?Step It Up Day? rally in Lander, Wyoming. People gathered from the local area at our city park on the south side of town to hear Wyoming historian and conservationist, Tom Bell, speak about the perils of global climate change. After Tom, 2 local high school students got up and spoke about their concerns of inheriting a world faced with the prospect of human caused climate change. Two local contractors then educated us about renewable energy and energy efficiency. Our local Lutheran pastor brought things to a close by speaking of the need to care for creation. After the pastor spoke we gathered folks for a 14 mile bike ride around the hills outside of Lander ending up at the Cowfish Restaurant for a post ride beverage and raffle.
It was a great day. I hope this sends a message to Congress that the people of Lander, Wyoming are concerned about the prospect of human caused climate change.
This event was organized by the Wyoming Conservation Voters Education Fund, The National Outdoor Leadership School, and the Wyoming Outdoor Council.
This event was sponsored by The Elemental Training Center, The Wild Iris, Freewheel Ski and Cycle, Main Street Books, the Open Door Caf?, Compassionate Counseling, and the Cowfish Restaurant.
