We met at the trailhead, discussed the Step It Up 2007 campaign, and commenced our 0.7-mile walk through the beautiful preserve. The rain cleared just in time to allow for a gorgeous, dry walk! We made 8 stops along the trail to read selected "prayers", each one with an earthy, spiritual message. At each stop, the leader also introduced one native plant to the group, reciting its name, unique characteristics and Native American uses. We finished at each stop with a silent minute, during which each participant could wish the plant a long, healthy existence on Earth in her or his own way.
