A noon rally at Mansfield University, a walk through town, and a second community rally, all told, involved over 70 people: University folk and townfolk; kids and grownups; hunters and hikers; even a dog in a bandana.
The first rally takes place at Mansfield University, was organized by some faculty members, and is listed separately on StepItUp as "Walk for Global Warming." Thanks go particulary to John Ulrich and Jimmy Guignard for organizing--and to Bill McKibben, who, as featured speaker at last semester's EAPSU conference, lit a fire under all of us.
The second rally was sponsored by Tioga County Alliance for Democracy, a group working for peace and social justice. The rallies bookended a parade through the downtown, with a pause to pose at the town stoplight.
Thanks to all--we will make change happen!
Here are some photos. A few more will likely follow.
The first rally--60+ of us, except for the photographers, of course. Watch for our piper in later photos. And, look, someone dropped the world, I mean the ball, I mean . . .
Downtown Mansfield at the traffic light.
The walk goes on! And we picked up more people as we went--70+ by the end.
Hitting the trail--our wonderful hiking/biking trail! More pictures will follow.

Here are more pictures, including the final rally!
Even the kids are doing it these days.
Look both ways, people!
Here's the final rally at the levee.
And a few people who missed the shot (or rather, we took it too early)--thanks for coming to you and to everyone!

--wanted that last rally pic to be our primary pic, so here it is once again.
