About 25 of us gathered on lake Ave. at the 210 freeway in Pasadena on Thursday, April 12, 2007 during rush hour traffic (from 5 pm - 7 pm) and held a banner that read: Step it Up Congress...Cut Carbon 80% by 2050. The title of our event was End Global Warming, End the War. We brought together environmentalists and peace activists to show the link between dependence on oil, wars for oil and global warming. We also held signs that read: "Water, Not War: End Global Warming," "Less oil=lesswar=less global warming," "End the War on Iraq,""Stop the war for oil," "No blood for oil," and "Honk for Peace." We estimated that several thousand people saw us and our signs, and we recieved many thumbs up, honks and waves. We took a photograph of our event with our banner and signs, and put together a packet of materialdetailing the seriousness of globval warming/climate change and showed the connection to the war in Iraq and wars for resources and met with a district representative to our Congressman, Adam Schiff, requesting thast he sign onto the Waxman bill to cut carbon 80% by 2050 -- and he has done that!
