This event got the attention of a number of local people besides those who actually came and signed the petition. The plan was to get more community sharing, and moving forward with local actions. The Village Park location is a valuable historic site, which is being preserved, as we need to preserve our land, our water, our air. We hope to add a warrant to be voted on at Town Meeting in 2008 that will officially establish study and action within our town to combat climate change. What drove me to sign up for this small event now was the conviction that we must move forward, even one small step at a time, sharing examples of our own successful actions and life style changes, and supporting every spark of interest and action by others. It is important to awaken to the urgency of the needs, and even more important to discourage a sense of hopelessness, but instead to prove that there ARE positive steps we can each take NOW, as was illustrated by two way sharing at our Step Up gathering. Our next steps are being prepared.
