In record breaking heat in Fort Myers, Southwest Floridians gathered under the shade of a century old live oak and banyan tree to hear Senator John Edwards and other speakers share their heart felt convictions and genuine concern about Climate Change. John Edwards gave a riveting speech in the blazing sun and by the end his shirt could have been rung out! There were exhibits on solar energy and energy efficient appliances, "Hybrid Car Row", and also information about the proposed coal plant that might built on the shores of Lake Okeechobee. There was also a large mural that attendees decorated with messages and drawings concerning climate change. It was an eye-opening, sobering, thrilling day all rolled into one. OUr slogan was, "Climate Change does not discriminate. You cannot sit this one out".

Our group SING had a table that we shared with another group Save Our Creeks. We networked with many environmentalist activists, got many signitures on our petition to stop the building of a coal power plant on the banks of Lake Okeechobee and Senator Edwards spoke which inspired a large audience of more than 500 people. It was a great event. I took some pictures and I'm attaching them. I also filmed and will be putting it on DVD. I filmed Senator Edwards.
