Today, we began our second day of the New Jersey Climate March. With a successful kickoff day at Rutgers-New Brunswick with nearly 100 people, we marched from Princeton Junction to Princeton University, where students and the Princeton community welcomed us with great music, banners, and tables. We had great speakers today, including Ted Glick of the Climate Crisis Coalition. All speakers made it clear that we need federal legislation to cut carbon 80% by 2050. With chants like "he he, ho ho, global warming has got to go" and many more, we collected nearly 300 signatures in support of the Global Warming Response Act. The New Jersey Climate March will head to Sustainable Lawrence and The College of New Jersey tomorrow, even under the bad weather that has been forecasted. We will show the New Jersey legislature that we are serious about this issue, and that New Jersey is ready for strong action!
