Mrs. Peggy McKibben was a delightful opening speaker for our StepItUp rally. Children from the Lexington Montessori School read portions of the IPCC report. Congressman Ed Markey talked about the important work he will do in Washington as the new Chair of the Select Committee on Global Warming and Sen Susan Fargo, Rep. Jim Marzilli, Rep. Will Brownsberger and Marc Breslow told the crowd what we can expect on Beacon Hill. LHS Student Henrik Cotran expressed his feelings about the coming climate crisis. Fantastic music came from the group Blue Moose and the Unbuttoned Zippers. The Rally ended with a march (led by fifers and drummers) to the Lexington Green where everyone stopped for a group photo at the Minuteman Statue. LET THE ENERGY REVOLUTION BEGIN HERE!!!!! was the theme of the day.

The crowd assmebled at the Lexington MA event where they were addressed by Congressman Ed Markey, Chair of the House Global Warming committee and by Peggy McKibben, Bill's mother plus other local leaders. The demonstrators were then led by a fife and drum group to the Lexington Battle Green, site of the first battle of the Revolution where we took the big picture at the base of the Minuteman statue.
