We had a great, fairly casual get together in an otherwise underutilized park in town right on the Susquehanna River. We lucked into great weather and had folks joining us from all parts of the community -- some old friends and some we'd never met before.
We used up all 75 of the postcards we brought to send to legislators; a bunch of people calculated their carbon footprints (or learned how to); and we had a great time playing on a stone ruin better than any junglegym. We heard some inspiring words (which will shortly be available online at www.LocalActionPA.org) and then we marched over the Susquehanna River bridge and back with our banners for greater visibility.
It was fun, informative and relaxing, in spite of the topic. Truly a day of hope. It was also great to see so many people picnicking, playing and hanging out in the park.
In the Central Susquehanna Valley a crowd came out in support of Step It Up, rallying on the banks of the Susquehanna River (note the abandoned railroad bridge begging to become a bike trail in the background).
Hearing about where we stand on carbon and where we're trying to get to. Text will be available shortly on www.LocalActionPA.org.
We had lots of banners. This one was out by a busy intersection and got a lot of exposure.
