Our event took place in a small park on the beachfront in Carlsbad, California. It was a beautiful day and we had a very special guest.
We started our event by drumming to speak to the earth. Then we listened to a recording of unique sounds from the earth's magnetosphers. Our main attraction was our guest speaker, Dr. Ralph Keeling of Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Dr. Keeling's father, Charles did the ground-breaking work starting over 50 years ago at Scripps that came to be known as the "Keeling Curve," and showed conclusively the link between rising atmospheric Carbon Dioxide and temperature.
Dr. Keeling gave an inspired talk that illustrated in language that all could understand how climate change has evolved and what will happen if it is not mitigated. There was an extensive question and answer session in which Dr. Keeling answered everyone's questions.
We also handed out information and literature to scores of passersby who weren't able to stay, and recorded contact information for them as well as our event participants.
Jan Mondragon was our event organizer and did a fabulous job of putting everything together.
We think it may make sense to repeat this event in the summer, maybe in August. Although we were pleased with our event the attendance was not as large as we hoped. Partly this was due to spring break vacations, but also because this issue is still so new and hasn't sunk into the consciousness of most citizens. Additional events like this, with associated publicity will help to overcome this barrier, which is critical to gaining the popular will that on this problem.

Had a tight and good event. "Drumming the Earth" as a
circle to "speak" to the Mother Earth, then VLF very
low frequency radio soundbites from across the globe
with the "voice"of the Mother Earth "talking" to us.
Dr. Ralph Keeling, son of Dr. Charles Keeling who
inspired Al Gore. The Sr. Keeling did the seminal work
on CO2 and temperatures, climate change and global
warming. Questions and answers from Dr. Keeling. Video
enclosed is from Dr. Keelings speech. Short talk by
Jan Mondragon on social justice, political will,
ethics, environmental conciousness, and why we need to
send condoms ,free, to the people who need them.
Maybe send some to the Pope too. Some prizes for being
crewmembers of Spaceship Earth.. Painting for the
kids. Handouts and educational material available:
free condoms from the Coolness Conspiracy, and good
exchanges. Signs, and signpainters. Also, about 1000
plus cars passed by. Success! attached Video is Dr.
Keeling/ Picture next is Jan Mondragon Event
