We had a very successful morning viewing films at the landmark Del Oro theater in Grass Valley with county and city officials attending and local media there to cover the entire event.

Over 150 people watched the movie "Too Hot Not To Handle," "Kilowatt Ours," the short wombat video "All Is One," and a selection from Bill McKibben's presentation to the 2006 Bioneers conference on the importance of community.

After the movies, we had a long Q & A session that turned into a town hall meeting in which one person after another stood up with innovative ideas about how to green our lives and our community. Several community initiatives were probably born this morning. Our motto for this special day was "Global Cooling Starts Here - April 14, 2007."

We took our big Step It Up 2007 banner photo under the marquee of the Del Oro theater, with people of all ages enthusiastically crowding around and waving homemade signs that promoted practical steps people can take to increase energy efficiency.

Our march, rally and picnic were cancelled by heavy rain.
