Our event was called "Save Our Shoreline," and it was held on a beach on the Long Island Sound. Some attendees arrived via kayak, and many flew kites along the beach. Students from REEF, an environmental club at Rye Neck HS, helped children make kites out of recycled paper. Elza, a singer with an environmental focus, performed, as did Hugs for Strangers, a band from Rye Neck. Tom Murphy, Village Trustee, spoke to the crowd, followed by Kyra Greenawalt, age 9, Town Councilwoman Nancy Seligson and Congresswoman Nita Lowey. It was a beautiful harbor celebration and a community commitment to action on climate change.

Our literature table was mobbed, and the Step It Up flyers really "flew." So people were educated as well as entertained. Our petition to Congress was signed by 124 people!

4/23/07 Now it's a week later. Local cable tv covered the event for the entire 2 hours, and they will play it again and again, further educating people about climate change and its dangers.
