Family Fun Day for the Earth
Framingham, MA
November 3, 2007 10:00AM to 12:00PM
Event Description:
-- UPDATE: THE RAIN WON'T STOP US! MOST OF OUR EVENT IS INDOORS -- SEE YOU NOV. 3rd! ----
Who's a leader? -- our children -- this event is designed to include the next generation (who will have to deal with the global warming future) and pull their parents along!
We will have a Halloween costume contest for the kids with prizes, especially for those made with recycled materials. We are inviting local politicians to be our "celebrity" costume contest judges and learn/share about local efforts on warming with their constituents.
Kids can also bring old costumes and candy to "recycle" in the costume/candy exchange.
Free face-painting, crafts, games for all ages, and a hot cider and bake sale ($) to benefit produce from local farms for food banks and shelters.
At our global warming action table, kids and parents can make cards and letters to send to local and national politicians calling on them to embrace the "1 Sky" priorities.
The parking lot will feature several "grease" cars, including the "Green Grease Ambulance." Attendees can find out how to switch from fossil fuels to veggie oil!
We will invite all participants to use our parking lot to car-pool to other events on Nov. 3rd later in the day.
We will be especially working toward sending a delegation to the "Revolutionary Energy Rally" in Concord later that afternoon. Participants can decorate a banner to send to that rally.
If you'd like to help, please contact us. If you know a politician in the Metrowest area who you can invite personally, we'd love the help. It should be a good opportunity for them to meet with politically active families, with the potential for plenty of kissing-baby photos!
