Ban Shortsighted "Leaders"!
San Clemente, CA
November 3, 2007 04:00PM to 09:00PM
Event Description:Following the leadership theme, I decided to hold the event at a location that is a potential example of what can happen under poor leadership. The TCA is attempting to build a pointless and expensive toll road through San Onofre State Beach Park. This would destroy one of our last large coastal open spaces in Southern California, encourage further degradation of surrounding lands, and promote the wasteful lifestyles that are causing climate change.
Save Trestles!
The event will start at the Trestles parking lot, at 4pm SHARP (look for the Surfrider tent), where everyone will meet up. Please wear green (feel free to make shirts!), and bring signs promoting your favorite leader, 1Sky initiatives, or 'Save Trestles'. We will all walk the trail together for better photos, then we will have a group photo at the beach as well as a short beach clean-up. Have your "green finger" idea ready!
If you go to the Trestles event you get an invite to the after party! This is sponsored by VeeV, who will be serving complimentary drinks. They make a liquor made from Acai, and they donate $1 of every bottle back to the rainforest where the berries come from. We are working on other food and refreshments as well. There will also be live music, and hopefully a few politicians to answer some questions about how they intend on leading our area in regards to environmental policies-specifically Trestles and global warming. We will, of course, have much information on how to help the cause(s). It will be held at Kirk Saber's WestEdge Gallery, right near Trestles beach.
Shoot me an email if you have any questions, or if you'd like to help!
