Many Faiths Under 1 Sky - Interfaith Step It Up Day

Milford, NH

November 3, 2007 10:00AM to 01:00PM

Hosted by Gail Denemark

Event Description:
We are planning an interfaith service to be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Milford where clergy from a number of area churches and temples will participate with congregants and the non-church going public as well, to call for determined leadership in addressing global warming. After a 30 min. (approx.) service, we will all join together for a processional walk to the nearby town oval. Enroute we will be carrying banners, singing, drumming, and encouraging anyone along the way to join in our community's coalescing around this critical issue. When we arrive at the oval, we will hear speakers, wonderful live music, have an opportunity to pick up important literature on global warming, and enjoy coffee, cider, and delicious baked goods. It is our hope that this coming together of many faith communities and the community as a whole, will serve to further many more partnerships on an issue that demands all of our combined efforts. In the event of poor weather, we will still make the brief walk to the oval, but then go on to the nearby First Congregational Church for the activities that would otherwise be on the oval. While on the oval, we will hear the peal of the historic Paul Revere forged bell that will serve to "sound the alarm" and warn us all of the catastrophic threat that global warming poses. Come join us whether you are a church/temple member or not. This is a time for the entire community to come together.
