Step It Up Against Factory Farming
Washington, DC
November 3, 2007 12:00PM to 01:00PM
Event Description:Industrialized animal agriculture is responsible for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions -- higher than the share from all our cars, trucks, and planes combined! The environmental costs of feeding, transporting, and slaughtering animals in intensively confined facilities, known as factory farms, are devastating to our planet and its resources.
Ending factory farms means taking back control of our food and natural resources. That's why we are marching to raise awareness about our current wasteful levels of consumption and leading the way to a more just, humane, and sustainable future.
Starting from Dupont Circle and ending at Lincoln Memorial where we will join with hundreds of our friends and fellow activists at the big rally.
This march is being organized with members of the D.C. and Virginia Chapters of the Sierra Club, and Food & Water Watch.
