Demonstration to Boycott Exxon-Mobil
East Lansing, MI
November 3, 2007 10:00AM to 04:00PM
Event Description:
We intend to demonstrate to promote the boycott of Exxon-Mobil, which is the main enemy of both the environment and peace.
IMPLICATIONS OF WHERE YOU BUY GAS
1. Want to promote war, pollution, and Bush/Cheney corruption?
Then buy from Exxon/Mobil, which takes a portion of the money you give them to spread pro-pollution propaganda, make contributions to the Republican Party, and encourage pro-war policies (they have actually even spent tens of millions of dollars into trying to mislead the American people into thinking there is no global warming—see Sharon Begley’s “Truth About Denial” in the 8/13/07 Newsweek). But it’s not just the Republicans who are influenced (for example, even the Democrats’ proposal to withdrawal some troops from the Middle East was conditional on Iraq giving its oil to Exxon/Mobil).
2. Want to promote peace and social justice?
Then buy from Citgo, which actually seeks to help people (Citgo has given subsidized oil to various groups of poor people in the USA and Britain, and its owner promotes peace and social justice throughout the world).
3. Want to stay more neutral?
Then buy from other gas stations. Boycott Exxon/Mobil. Please pass on this flyer.
MoveOn (with millions of members) has already issued a call for a boycott of Exxon-Mobil.Together we can put pressure on corporate lobbyists to stop the war and pollution (and we can change the world for the better forever).
