Last night Bill was in town, and spoke at a film festival and got the troops rallied up.
Over 100 people rallied outside of this ugly little eye sore of a coal plant, conveniently located in the heart of the University campus. People wrote a whole lot of postcards to the board of regents, the Chancellor, and the Governor, urging them to take action (this plant is currently the subject of a lawsuit by the Sierra Club, so some urging is needed).

About 100 of us gathered at the UW Charter Street coal-fired power plant. There were "No More Coal" signs for people, and postcards for us to write and send to the Board of Regents. There were a few brief speeches about how this was the first time for people to protest a power plant. We passed a green stamp pad to make green fingers, and took a group photo. Then we marched on the sidewalk with our signs for a while. I didn't see any press, and there wasn't any info that I saw in the Sunday (conservative) paper about any of the Step it Up activities, including ours.
Bill McKibben made a number of plugs for the event when he spoke to a packed auditorium here Friday night.
There were a few college age people, & the majority was over 35 or 40. I saw many people I knew from various environmental groups.

Madison people participated in a demostration at the University of Wisconsin's coal-burning power plant in downtown Madison on November 3, 2007 and wrote postcards to University officials about the contribution of coal plants like this one to global warming.
Today, in the Wisconsin State Journal the headline read: "Judge: UW coal plant is illegal, UW must get permit and control pollution"
