1 Sky San Jose was a great event that had about twenty-five people attend throughout the afternoon. We were in downtown San Jose at Cesar Chavez Plaza. There were tons of cars that drove by the event as we held our large sign up with other signs that said Use Public Transit, Bike, or Walk. We had all of downtown driving by to get our message to. We also were able to let our group know about the next Stop Global Warming event and protect our 1 sky at a FREE event on 11/11/07 at 11 a.m. Breath California is showing The 11th Hour at the Tech Museum as part of health and the environment day from 10-3 with representatives coming to discuss what they will do for health and the environment too.
Overall it was a great day and we met a lot of people and discussed how "We have met the enemy, and he is US" from George Monbiot's Heat: How to stop the Planet from Burning" and how we must get out of our cars!! A very important message that can't be spoken enough. We spoke it to our 25 participants and to all the car drivers rolling by in downtown. A great Day and great message. Thank you Bill McKibben and Step It Up.
1 Sky San Jose. The first of many more STep It Up rallys in downtown San Jose, CA!! Our message was clear and sent to all of downtown "STOP DRIVING..GET out of your Cars!"

Our new friend Ike of Rebel Arts went home to get and show us his skateborard: "Skateboarding Against Global Warming" We want "Cycling Against Global Warming" too.

Nothing happened at this event. There was no one there, no tables, no spreakers, nothing. Was this event cancelled without any notice?? I wasted my time going to downtown San Jose for this.

We had a great time getting folks to honk and make promises to drive less in the future, all as they made their way slowly through traffic in this busy part of town.
We had a few speakers and petitions, but the kids climbing up the modern art with posters and dancing around with placards was the best part.
We were at the south end; I had a hard time finding it. Sorry to those who couldn't find us.

The challenge was to FIND the event. I
arrived at the appointed hour, but had to search. What I do know is that any presence is worthy. The effort speaks for itself. Keep doing what you can and it will pay off.
