The Brattleboro community gathered downtown across from the Winter Farmers Market, which began today. Local musician Breeze VerDant played guitar, then Paul Cameron of Brattleboro Climate Protection spoke. He read statements from U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders & U.S. Rep. Peter Welch, who were at other events. Janisse Ray read a message from Bill McKibben. Vermont's Senate Pro Tem, Peter Shumlin, who is a leader in the state on climate change, spoke passionately and eloquently. Peter honored our late democratic hero, Sen. Conrad Aiken, in his speech, and promised to do all in his capability to protect the climate. Then we gathered for a photo. All in all, a great rally!

It was very inspiring to see so many local activists at the event and to hear from such compassionate leaders. We heard from Paul Cameron, Janisse Ray, Senator Peter Shumlin, and State Representative Virginia Milkey. In addition, Paul Cameron read statements from U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, U.S. Representative Peter Welch, and Environmental Activist Bill McKibben. Breeze Ver Dant provided great music. The event was covered by the Brattleboro Reformer, BCTV, and WTSA.
