Due to the hurricane-strength storm, we moved indoors at Newton City Hall where kids and families and residents danced to live blues music by Newton's own bands, Stingy Brimm and The Daylites. Inspiring remarks were made by Mayor David Cohen; Steven Wofsy, Harvard climate scientist, Newton resident, and member of the IPCC 2007 Nobel Peace Prize team; Ana Zarina Asuaje Solon, President, Green Decade Coalition Newton; Harry Kaufer, Newton South High School student who read his awarding winning essay on global warming; and Peter Smith, founding member of Green Decade who updated us on Rep. Barney Frank's legislative efforts to fight climate change. Alderman Lyle Baker and Steve Linsky were also on hand. Free food and drink by Starbucks and Whole Foods, and sponsors Samadhi (wellness center) and Progressive Asset Management made it possible.
