The event was full of the two most important things: 1) good information on the science, policy, and governmental realities of dealing with global warming and alternative energy, and 2) positive energy, with exchange of ideas between the three speakers and the audience, and between audience members as well.

Here is the flier we produced before the event: Our Step It Up Flier

We started organizing a bit late, and so could not obtain attendance from local government officials. However, we did contact several in the last week before the event and their office managers were friendly and indicated interest for the next event, if given enough advanced notice.

We gave away three environmental shirts, and to all attendees we gave Step It Up buttons as well as a gift bag with documents, a CFL bulb, and other supplies.

The event ran 1/2 hour extra due to the enthusiastic discussion and exchange of ideas. Audience members included an environmental engineer, a solar panel professional, and others with various experience and knowledge in organizing or in local political processes, leading to a useful pooling of information that several attendees expressed was quite helpful so as not to feel all alone when trying to navigate the changing environment we are all in.

Thanks go to Ethical Humanist Society of LI (EHSLI) for hosting this event in their comfortable building; to Long Island Climate Solutions Network, Neighborhood Network, Vision Long Island, and PlanetThoughts.org, for organizing; and to Citizens Campaign for the Environment, as well as access.office and It's BoomerTime, for inviting their members and spreading the word.

Three speakers (primary speakers Scott Carlin and Beth Fiteni in the background, and youth leader & speaker Eric Alexander in the foreground), with knowledge in science, policy, and sustainable methodology, answer questions after speaking to the audience.

The audience listens intently, and later had animated discussion. No one remembered a camera, so we had to settle for cell phone quality, unfortunately.
