A similar-minded friend and I went to the meeting place at noon where we waited as everyone gathered. The organizers were all very welcoming, most coming up and introducing themselves to us and thanking us for being there. We were in the park for about half an hour allowing everyone to arrive. About 12:30 p.m. Georgia took the bullhorn and informed us of where we were to walk, they passed out posters to carry. And we had a healthy earth and unhealthy earth walking with us and Uncle Sam leading the way.

The quarter-mile march was down the very busy Ocean Blvd., and we got a lot of response in the form of drivers honking their horns in support. We were led in some chants along the way, very reminiscent - for me - of a much earlier time in my life.

We arrived at Bluff Park overlooking the ocean where a giant petition was set up for us all to sign, along with tables for people to hand write their own letters, all of which were to be sent to Rep. Richardson. Georgia, the or host of the event, gave a speech about the house bill we want Rep. Richardson to commit to, the reasons why, and read from the collective letter we were sending to her. She then thanked everyone for coming, and we left the park at a little after 1:00 p.m.

Overall, the ralley was a positive experience for me, although a little shorter than expected, and a smaller turnout than I hoped there would be. I would maybe suggest that there be a little more direction from the organizers, as to what the There was a reporter from the local paper, the Press Telegram, who interviewed a few of us, so hopefully the event will have some press.

This was one of the first rallys i have been to, and my friends and i were probably the youngest people there. The second we got there we were greeted by everyone. We picked up a sign, took a group picture, and started walking for about four blocks. once we got to our destination, we signed in, and signed the "symbolic" constitution. We were to young to sign the actual petition, but we lisitned to the main speaker talk and mingled for a while. This was probably one of the most enthrilling things i have done this year, and i really feelt like i have contributed to help stop this crisis...eventhough i couldn't sign the petition.

We marched from one park in Long Beach to another. We had about 50 people total, including Green Peace employees. In the second park, we set up a giant petition to Rep. Richardson, and got everyone to sign it. Because the park was along a popular dog walking route, we got lots of walk-in signers, which was great! We were also holding up signs along a busy street, and got lots of encourageing honks and waves. There was a really strong response from the community, and we didnt have any nay-sayers! It was a great day.
