We discussed the 1 Sky goals, then went on to explain the importance of both political will and individual action. Everyone at the event went around and talked about what they do to reduce their contribution to carbon emissions. I passed out sample letters that each person could use as a reference to write letters to their politicians about proposed Acts and Bills that would enhance environmental sustainability. Steve Porter, an independent candidate, spoke about ensuring that your elected official represents your needs and not those of lobbyists. We finished with a synergy activity and a photo!
