There were lots of kids, adults, dogs and even ducks (we were near the Whitefish River). Rebecca Holdhusen, age 11, gave a wonderful speech about what we can do to conserve energy and what is being done in other part of the world to use energy more efficiently. People won free energy efficient light bulbs and green reusable grocery bags. Our state representative, Mike Jopek and Will Hammerquist of the local National Parks and Conservation Association spoke. There was coffee and snacks, and fiddle music provided by some awesome kids. There was a bike ride to Kay Beller Park on the bike trail. A reporter from the local paper was there to record the event. And lots of fun had by all. (I think we win Tina:)

What a great day for Whitefish, a small community that cares about climate change and has concerns about global warming in Northwest Montana, just outside of Glacier National Park. We are calling on our leaders to bring sound conservation policies in government. This issue has always been a Democratic issue and is proven to be so, with the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to former Vice-President Al Gore, but it needs to be a worldwide issue that we all take part in and find common ground to solve.
