Over 100 people of all ages plus family pets gathered on the Main Street of Stowe, Vermont this morning at 10:30AM with signs, banners and green fingers. Organizers Idoline Duke and Carol Van Dyke welcomed the crowd and Heidi Scheurmann, our Vermont State representative spoke. We posed for a photo on the steps of the Memorial Building then marched en masse across and along Main Street and hiked up 1/2 mile to Sunset Rock where another group photo was taken with the backdrop vista of Vermont's highest mountain. Our rally ended around noon in front of the historic schoolhouse and Helen Day Art Center gazebo where people enjoyed hot chocolate, conversation, music and made affirmation flags to the world. Words of inspiration were shared by David Gibson of the Global Challenge project and Liz Soper of the National Wildlife Foundation. Afterwards people at their leisure could view the special exhibit on "Art and the Environment" at the Art Center.
