A wonderful day of activism in the park! We had about 60 people join Greenpeace organizers in the park and write letters to Representative Darlene Hooley urging her to co-sponsor the Safe Climate Act. we were able to get everyone to sign a petition and make a call to her office and about 30 people wrote hand written letters that will be mailed to her office very soon. We will also made a video of people in the community asking Rep. Hooley to act now and help to address this issue! Thank you to everyone who came.

People came and went, getting information, writing letters to Darley Hooley and to Senator Smith, participating in a short video and helping hold signs on the sidewalks so that people would know about the event. Overall there could have been more people, but it was great nonetheless!

Today at the Greenpeace-sponsored event I attended there were about eight organizers, all young people, offering us the chance to write postcards to Ore.Rep. Darlene Hooley and Ore.Sen. Gordon Smith, asking them to support the goals of 85% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050. Also some folks were taking photos and doing videotaped interviews.

People young and old came and went. I took home a "Stop Global Warming" sign, printed up by Greenpeace, to put in our front yard.

Our event was in one of Portland's lovely parks. The day was the most beautiful autumn day I have ever experienced, sunny and just slightly warm and breezy, and the trees were a brilliant scarlet. I couldn't help but think that one of the reasons for our efforts is to keep days like this from disappearing forever. We want our children, their children, and their children to experience this same beauty.

This was at Gabriel Park from 2 to 4 pm. I went by around 3 and was so disappointed to see only a handful of people visiting the event. I hope there were more earlier.

I attended the Greenpeace sponsored event in SW Portland. Signed postcards to Sen. Smith and Wyden asking the to show leadership sponsoring and/or supporting legislation calling for an 80% reduction in CO2 by 2050.
Called Rep. Darlene Hooley's office to ask for her support on upcoming legislaion on CAFE standards to increase auto mileage to 50 MPG by 2020.
