People of all ages and from all across the Adirondack Park gathered in Lake Placid overlooking the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Speakers spoke about how global warming will affect the Adirondacks, the science and what can be done, and John Brown, our inspirational leader. We placed inspiring quotes on our banner, painted our fingers green and signed postcards to be sent to our Congressional leaders.

Participants met in Lake Placid, NY to hear speeches, show congress our green fingers, sign postcards to send to our congressional representatives, read statements from invited but not attending elected leaders, and enjoy a beautiful chilly day in the Adirondacks.
We focused on the leadership of John Brown, not only because his old homestead and grave are in Lake Placid, but because he was someone who recognized the urgent issue of his day, the abolition of slavery, and dedicated his life to it. We were inspired by his dedication and persistence, not his tactics of violence.
There were many young kids and college students at the event, which was an inspiration to us all.
Thank you to everyone who came on such short notice.
