We woke up to hear a hurricane was headed our way. Luckily our event was to take place 2 hours before the 60 mile an hour winds and torrential rain. The Nor'Easter did bring rain, wind and 46 degree temps, but we went to our local playground anyway. We had a truck powered by veggie oil on display. We put up banners on cars and fences. We handed out some information packets, passed around the letter sent in our support from Senator Kennedy and read the speech from Bill McKibben. It was really cold, wet and windy, but we drank coffee and ate muffins to stay warm. Our little kids were protected from the wind and rain in our station wagon. Although we were only 11 people..all ages were represented. We were near busy roads so lots of passing motorists could see our signs. We were very happy to have our event completed before the worst of the weather hit. We all felt psyched to do something to stop global warming and to take a stand in solidarity with our organizers. We can't wait for the next Step It Up!
