A great event at the site where the industrial revolution began. We had about 150-200 people meet at the Moody st. bridge overlooking the mill that started it all. We then had some great music by the Phil Darosa Band and others. Speeches by Mayor McCarthy and Sen. Susan Fargo among others. A well attended event where a good time was had by all. We are all hopeful for what we may see happen in the future after this historic day. Thank you for all those who attended and help make this day happen.

Marchers on the Moody Street bridge, Waltham

By:Rev. Rob Mark

A group of local clergy, members of faith communities, and city members and marched down Moody street (central street in city) to meet with a group of students from Brandeis University. We met on this bridge over the Charles River and took the photo in front of the factory and mill that mark the start of the Industrial Revolution. We then marched to the center of town carrying signs like STOP GLOBAL WARMING, and GOD CARES ? WE CARE, and CUT CARBON 80% by 2050 ? and had a wonderful rally with speakers and music. Our mayor, local city councilor, 2 professors from local universities, a Presbyterian minister, MassPirg, and Senator Susan Fargo all gave moving speeches. The day concluded with an Interfaith Prayer Service at First Parish Church of Waltham. There, we lit candles for the earth, and prayed for her future and healing. An incredibly moving day. PEACE ON EARTH!

The rally went really well! We had about 50 Brandeis students (undergraduate and
graduate) assemble at 11:30 in our campus center and march down South Street and then Main Street to the Waltham Common (intersection of Main and Moody) singing slogans and carrying signs and banners that told Congress to "Stop Global Warming".
We met up over the Moody Street Bridge with a Waltham interfaith group from the First Parish Church with whom we collaborated with to plan the event.

The bridge overlooks the historic mill that started the American Industrial
Revolution! This served as a very poignant spot to hold our banners and take our group picture. Following the picture we went to the Common where we had numerous speakers (such as the Mayor of Waltham, State Senator Susan Fargo, Prof. Eric Olson,
and others) and live bands. We also circulated a petition supporting specific global warming legislation.

At its peak, the rally had about 100 attendees!

Overall, the rally was a huge success and made a huge statement for Brandeis and the City of Waltham to take action on this pressing issue of climate change.
